Well I’ve upgraded hosting on my Snowmoblog site. I’m going to work on keeping some new content going there over the winter.
I’m a snowmobile nut, so I guess it was a matter of time to start a snowmobile blog, actually I started it last spring! The reality of it all is that there is always a lack of news and such over the summer, so the site sat unattended for a few summer months.
Now that cooler weather is invading the northland (I’m in Minnesota), its time to dust off Snowmoblog and get things in gear. That started Friday with an upgrade to full hosting instead of “freebie” status, and getting the RSS feeds working right away.
Keep tuned in if you’re a snowmobiler – I’m going to focus on having fun, the glossy mags can keep up on the racing stuff and “rode reports” as it were. Snowmoblog will be updated with real-world experiences – frozen lakes, getting lost in the woods, favorite watering holes – you know how it is!
While extremely useful, do people actually need broadband connectivity to survive? I’m a big ‘Net user myself, but also wish for some time away from connectivity. Any thoughts?
We stopped at a great (and I really mean it) coffee shop in Ely. They had simple sandwiches and soups as well as dessert stuff. The place is called the “Front Porch Cafe”, and also had Internet connectivity, though I didn’t use it.
Amy had one of the best Mochas in a very long time. I had just a regular coffee and some chili, also very good. This place is on my recommended list for places to stop when passing through.
A great thank you to the staff there, it was a warm welcoming place.
(I wrote this two days ago while in the car – didn’t have mobile service at the time. Also, when we got to Crosslake, I was very successful in relaxing, so I never connected up.)
So we are heading fro the north shore inland to Ely. Fantastic scenery, and we’re crossing the Superior National Forest, and the skirting the Boudary Waters Canoe Area.
It’s about 29 degrees out and its snowing. Its been snowing all morning, and here in the forest is quite stunning. The rolling wooded hills are starting to gather a light coating of snow, creating some of my favorite nature scenes.
Well, I’ve no Internet connection at all, so I’ll stop here for now.

Finally have been able to find the time to get away from work for a few days. It happens to be our Anniversary, so Amy and I wanted some time out of town and away from “it”.
We’ll be heading north, and I’ll blog portions of it, pertaining to what strikes me at the moment. Something different that I’m going to do is keep my laptop in “standby” mode for 4 days. What? Battery life? Of course it won’t last for four days, but I figure, that if I keep the ‘top ready to fire at all times, I’ll have opportunity to plug in at coffee shops, hotels, and of course, I’ve got an AC/DC adapter in the car.
I’m going to blog random stuff here, of course, and will blog the technical items at The Mobile Lifestyle, which I’ve unfortunately been neglecting something fierce lately. Hopefully, I’ll be able to stock up on some pictures and such, though here in Minnesota at this time, all the fall color has vanished in winds and rains of the last week or two.
@MAC_Arms Pay taxes when you make your money, pay taxes when you spend your money, pay taxes when you successfully invest your money, pay taxes when you save enough taxed money to afford a house, pay taxes to live in your house, pay taxes when you sell the house that you paid taxes on to
Yup, taxes are criminal and we need serious reforms. I've always said that if you want to see a tax revolt, make withholdings illegal and have Americans write a tax check every payday. They'll revolt for sure. You don't miss what you never had.
Sen. @berniemoreno says voter ID and proof of citizenship are simply common sense.
“We’re talking about a very low threshold — identify who you are and prove you’re a U.S. citizen when you register to vote. I think we’re getting closer to
