Well, maybe I should go finish up and get the degree that I always meant to follow up on! Interesting, and would be fun for subjects a person just wanted to learn more about, even if it doesn’t really count towards a real degree.
You never know what you’ll find online.

Well, I’ve finally found a few hours laying around to plop the latest beta code on my machine – yet again. What have we got this time? The usual Vista and Office 2007, etc…
Initial observations seem to back up what I’ve been hearing about performance. Stability on Beta 2 of Vista & Office was not a problem for me, but performance was.
Vista RC1 and Office 2007 B2TR are comperable in performance to a freshly installed Windows XP & Office 2003 setup. So I’ll be continueing to install my usual cadre of software and continue working away.
I fully expect to be able to run this software stack until the final releases are available. Hopefully that’ll mean a new laptop for yours truely, but I’m not going to hold my breath.
Looks good so far – kudos Microsoft!

Well, I’ve updated my comment spam monitor to filter a few more spammers that seem to have slipped through.
Its though enough as it is without idiots like these spammers hitting a personal blog. What is there to gain from targeting personal blogs?
Ugh, I guess I should really focus my disappointment towards the real idiots that actually are stupid enough to click on this type of advertising, emails, and blog posts. These people are the real problem because they create an environment where the spammers can make money.
F***ers!

I have to ask. Is Dell over the peak? Are their best days behind them? Have they turned into the big corporate computer loser that seems to overtake all PC companies?
Nothing is a given, and the way Dell goes after sales, ships units, and reports earnings has always made me a little edgy. In my corporate life, I deal with Dell directly, and have never been fond of their sales tactics, or staff. When I’ve had them onsite to answer questions, they are always prepared to sell, not to answer to their current shipping product deficiencies.
Seems to me that its time to find the next PC supplier. I’ve been recommending Dell for years, but I don’t know that I’ll be recommending them for this holiday season to friends and family. Too many variables – and their are more compelling models from Toshiba, Compaq, HP, Asus, and the rest.
Check out the article at PC Mag below, interesting read.

I’ve just got to pipe up on this one. From what I understand of the laws and constitution, this is fully within the realm of the government’s ability and responsibility. To fully protect the citizens of the United States, this activity by the NSA is well within the limits of constitutional law.
The simple point I have with this is that we need this data mined to track down ALL terrorists, regardless of race, religion, or persuasion.
To maintain the safety and integrity of this country (and the world), we need to track down and dispatch groups that would otherwise flourish on the carnage and chaos that they cause. This needs to be done before events like 9/11, the Tokyo & London bombings, and the current activity in Lebanon take place.
While I understand the intention of this Judge and the ACLU, this action should only be taken by congress, where everyone in the country is represented, not by the judiciary. Wrong place for this action.
For those who disagree with my position – that’s fine. In fact I’m glad that you have an opinion! Let’s debate this in the proper theater (congress) instead of a side-show circus that the ACLU usually attempts.
You have to fight fire with fire.
That’s my motto.
