Back in Beta

Well, I’ve finally found a few hours laying around to plop the latest beta code on my machine – yet again.  What have we got this time?  The usual Vista and Office 2007, etc…

Initial observations seem to back up what I’ve been hearing about performance.  Stability on Beta 2 of Vista & Office was not a problem for me, but performance was.

Vista RC1 and Office 2007 B2TR are comperable in performance to a freshly installed Windows XP & Office 2003 setup.  So I’ll be continueing to install my usual cadre of software and continue working away.

I fully expect to be able to run this software stack until the final releases are available.  Hopefully that’ll mean a new laptop for yours truely, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

Looks good so far – kudos Microsoft!

Quick Post

I thought that I would drop a quick post over lunch. I’m down in the lobby of the office, kicking back with some Damn Yankees.

Had to get away from the desk for a little bit if you know what I mean. 😉 Putting my phone through it’s paces reading news, posting, and listening to tunes. Kind of fun when it all works.

Class Reunion

Hard to belie its been 20 years since graduation!  Recently, one of my classmates tracked me down with an invitation to our 20th anniversary of our high school graduation.

While I won’t be able to make it, I want to say hi to everyone in our class from 1986!  Also a hello to everyone in Spring Valley, WI (see Google Map), and a thank-you to Shelly for getting the invitation to me.

Thanks!

Relaxing week

Sorry not to have posted for awhile, I’ve had the last two weeks off work during the move and some extra time to myself.  The last few days I’ve actually left the computer off and got out a little bit.

Amy and I explored the downtown area and got our daughter set up in her new school.  Ah, the kids grow up so fast – not enough time to spend with them some times.

So next week its back to work, back to the grind.  It’ll be nice to get back in the grove, get in touch with everyone at work and get moving forward on some of the projects again.

I’ve got some work to do on my commute as well – back to driving at least 30 minutes one way.  I’ve been contemplating some alternatives, but will be using our old Ranger pickup for now.  It’ll be a decent winter commuter, but by spring I hope to move to something a bit better on gas – and more fun.  I’m thinking a motorcycle, not sure what yet exactly.

Anyway, I found that having a lot more time on my hands, I spent less blogging.  Not too bad – actually had some fun the last two weeks in addition to the work of moving.  I’ve just got to get back up to speed on news and such, haven’t read a thing during the break.
