Thoughts and things I care to shareBeware the fool
Just a friendly reminder to watch out for the annual jokes that abound on the first of April. I’ve already been lead down the golden path twice – and it wasn’t even 4/1 yet! Call me gullible.
There will be some whoppers this year in the blogosphere, so keep your eyes open.

- It’ll be interesting to see if this pans out as anything (pun intended) useful. Screams of Microsoft “me too” syndrome.
Off to the Connections 2007 Conference
Well, I’ll be at the Connections 2007 conference next week. Hosted by Microsoft, Windows IT Pro magazine and Tech Conferences, Connections is a great networking resource for Windows, Exchange and Office technology professionals.
This particular event is being held at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, FL. Should be a good time, as well as a great event. If you were interested in learning more about the conference, it’s three main focused specialities are Windows, Exchange, and Office. There’s also a developer based conference held separately a week earlier.
I’ll be blogging the conference while there, and of course, Twittering about things all week. All Twitters going should give a shout-out for a meetup at the conference one evening.

- Wish this would have been a webcast of some sort – very interesting to me as a technology architect and integrator. This type of extension of desktop apps is what is necessary in the first move to a full web-centric workplace.

- One of the reasons I read Mathew Ingram’s blog is because of the well thought out, intelligent commentary on his selection of topics. In this case, he does a great quick analysis of the current discussion of whether newspapers are dying or not. His poin
- This is intriguing – there is a definite trend lately to move some functionality to the desktop so there is off line capabilities to Web 2.0 software & services. This is an area to watch.
- This new HTC Shift device looks interesting. Its actually an UMPC rather than a Windows Mobile device on steroids. Can they make it in the UMPC world? I hope so, more competition is always a good thing.
Out for Lunch – Exercising Mobile Kit
I’m sitting at Starbucks having a Venti Mocha Frappuccino, yes a quad-shot, and working online with my MDA based mobile kit. I know I keep threatening to post a picture of what I use as my micro-mobile kit – I promise to try and get that posted befor my trip next week.
On other topics, I’ve been working the Avatar Consultants site over the weekend and have Joomla live on the site now. There is quite a bit of work to go before it’s fully up to speed, but the base platform is up and running. More later.
Also, I’ve got a small lead on a consulting gig with a small company in the northern suburbs of MPLS here – may be a good launchpad for AC, or it may amount to nothing either. We’ll see.
As I use my “micro-mobile” kit, I am getting more and more enamored by it – small, light and addresses about 85% or better of what I need to do online. It was a great move last year to move everything to web-based services. Working very well when mobile!
Well, more updates later! 🙂
Beautiful Spring Day in Minneapolis
We’re having a great spring day here in Minnesota. Could reach a high of 75 today! I highly recommend everyone get outside – even if you don’t have the chance, make one!

- Om Malik at GigaOM has the scope on an interesting upgrade from Symbian, and will probably help then when compared to Windows Mobile, Palm, BlackBerry, and the upcoming iPhone, but I fear that the platform is too shortsighted in its original underpinnings
A Great Evening
You know, it shouldn’t surprise a person but I guess it did me. As any busy family, we don’t spend enough time together, and when you do, you realize just how fun it really is.
Brianna and I spent the better part of the afternoon and evening yesterday just doing fun stuff. We went to the park, baked some pastries and a pie, and just had time to talk. She got to run around and have a picnic, then later help make dinner (stir fry, a favorite of her’s).
It was one of the most enjoyable afternoons I’ve had in years. This is what we toil for, this is what family life used to be every day – not just a rare outtake of life. When I take a step back and look at it, I can’t believe we’ve allowed other entities (work) to overtake simple life experiences. It’s a shame, and something I vowed to myself today to change. Radically.
The time passes by too quickly to be taken up by stressful environments of which one can not change.
