There is no other substitute for fresh air and sunshine. The enabler it becomes to allow your brain to race ahead and work on problems is amazing. Why don’t many (any?) companies encourage a trip outside and/or sponsor an opportunity for workers to get away from the office once in awhile? I think it really should be an option. You know, once or twice a week a person should be able to get out to their favorite place with a laptop and wireless data and just work. Turn on some tunes or just listen to the sounds around you – I guarantee that you’ll see an improvement in your world view, and help find an answer to that issue you’re working on.
Bravo to Google for updating Docs & Spreadsheets with a refined interface and a few new features. Now there is a sidebar with folders for organizing and easier visual queues to where your documents are. Another new feature is the ability to sort documents by collaborator. This is a great enhancement for multiple users, where they would like to view documents based on who created or edited them. Finally, an enhanced search feature with auto-complete is included.
Do you know someone with a story to tell? An exciting event in their past? Overcome difficult situations or circumstances to be where they are? Grab a camera and interview them – be part of “The Everyday Heroes” Project over at Jeff Pulver’s blog.
Wondering how I missed this little piece of news – I’m a Feedburner users and have at least a half-dozen feeds being managed by them. Good for Feedburner!
In yet another aspect of my changing career, I’ve started writing for 451 Press on their Minneapolis, MN blog. Currently I’m the lone author here in the northland for this blog and I’m really looking forward to covering the “city beat” of my home city.
Yes, I’ll be writing about something other than technology, blogs, personal brand, and myself. This is one more step in the direction I took in early April when I decided that corporate life no longer had a place in my professional life.
So off I go on another adventure, I’m excited to see how it turns out. I’ve been writing technical documents & manuals for many years, blogging for about 3 years and looking for an opportunity to do something different. Head on over to the Minneapolis, MN blog and don’t hesitate to let me know what you think!
As governor, the State Capitol will stand for unity and common sense.
In addition to the POW/MIA flag that has long flown over the State Capitol, we will fly two flags when I am governor: the Wisconsin state flag and the American flag.
