WordPress 2.5 Upgrade

Well I just upgrade my WordPress install to version 2.5.  Everything seems to be working as intended, so I’m not too worried about it.  After several upgrades, I’ve figured out the best method for me.

Back up the database, and the WP-specific folders
Inventory my plugins and verify that they are compatible with the new version
Disable [...]

Updated theme elements here on the blog

Hi all!
Just a quick post to mention the updated “post footer” changes that I came up with.  Since adding a few additional services here on my blog, I’ve disliked how messy and unorganized the bottom of each post had become.  So today, I set out to tidy it up a bit and make it [...]

WordPress 2.3.1 Upgrade

Well, I finally got around to upgrading WordPress to version 2.3.  In fact, I waited long enough for 2.3.1 to be released.
Heh, guess I just found the time to “git ‘er dun” as it were.
No other changes have been made, but I’d appreciate it if you drop a comment or an email if you [...]

Where is my custom WordPress theme?

I’ve been using some very nice (I think) themes from very creative developers in the WordPress community.  They all have had some design component that I really like, maybe the full use of space on one, the clean uncluttered look of another, the graphics on a third, the font/type/CSS creativity of a fourth, and [...]

KnowNow Wordpress Enterprise Edition

This is great news for the team over at Automattic - WordPress has become a world-class platform for interactive communications, and this latest move is well-earned.
The new version will apparently be marketed through KnowNow, a Sunnyvale, CA company which has a bit of experience in the enterprise marketplace.
The new KnowNow WordPress Enterprise Edition will offer [...]

New Site Layout!

Ok, its late - 2:30am Saturday morning.  But I’ve done it!  RickMahn.com has a new layout.  I’ve leveraged a 3-column theme here on the blog, and have gotten to use several new features that I had been planning on for some time.  And it only took 4 hours to do!
The nice part about this layout is that [...]

Feedback: Latest version of Windows Live Writer 1.0 (Beta)

This post is directed to the Windows Live Writer team!  I really enjoy the WLW tool for blogging, in fact I’ve been using the latest build since it was released a week or so ago and have not blogged about it.
I could rave about all the features, but I’ll simply say that the tagging, category [...]

Scobleizer - Tech Geek Blogger » Is Microsoft really the largest blog vendor?

Robert has another great discussion going on his blog. Seems that a Windows Live team member was bragging a bit.
Yesterday someone who works on the Windows Live team was taunting me with “influentials don’t matter, we got to be #1 and we don’t care that there aren’t any influential bloggers using our stuff.”
Boy, this [...]

Windows Live Writer - More Info

Hey!  If you blog, I feel you need to try out Windows Live Writer.
Microsoft has IMO, a killer offline blogging tool.  It does everything I wanted in an offline editor, and the tie-in to the Windows Live Toolbar is incredible.
WLW works with WordPress, Blogger, Moveable Type, and LiveJournal in addition to Windows Live Spaces.  The [...]
