Sharing Resources With You
A longtime staple of many social media professionals is to share what they read, what they find and the resources they use every day. I’m not different, and have been sharing this information for the better part of a decade. Over the years, I’ve used Google Reader (still a staple), Tumblr, Posterous, Read It Later, InstaPaper, BlogLines, StumbleUpon, Del.icio.us, Digg, and many others that I’ve since forgotten (sorry!). In fact, earlier this year I wrote a similar post pointing out that I had More Resources To Share. Since then the work involved to share to so many different...
Read MoreDoing It Wrong
Sometimes you have to write, even if it’s wrong. I’m not sure if this is right or wrong, but not sharing ideas, thoughts, mistakes, and successes with you surely is wrong. That’s what I’m hoping to change. I’ve kept from posting for who knows what reasons. I know I can’t explain it well. So I’m not making promises about regular posting and I’m not suggesting any new directions with my blog here. I do know that I’ve been holding back and that’s the one thing I am going to change. Will I still blog about corporate social media, or challenges...
Read MoreHappiness with Headway
I’m so tickled with myself after getting something done yesterday that I can’t help but post about it. I finally was able to split out my Happiness series of posts from the main blog feed, populating them on their own page here on the blog. Longtime readers will remember I started posting almost-daily on things that occurred to me at the time. Mostly these were a sentence or two on something that made my day, or made me smile, or something along those lines. I’ve not done many this year (or late last year) because of workload and such. I also started refraining from posting...
Read MoreChanges & Opportunities
It’s been a long time coming, but there are significant changes taking place here this week. The first change being a new look* and updated layout here on the site. The current design was done almost two years ago by Mykl Roventine, a great designer & creator of things , and has served this blog well during that time. The next evolution of this site, needs to support the evolving needs I have online and in working with clients and organizations. More information on resources, ideas, offerings, services, and such are part of that plan, and I think the new design is...
Read MoreContent Creation
The amount of time I’ve wasted of the last several months not creating content for this blog is simply silly. When we all have so much to share and so much to say, why do we find it so hard these days to create content for our blogs? We’re so connected to nearly instantaneous interactions on Twitter and Facebook, or IM & Skype that we forget how groundbreaking a blog actually is. Our nuggets of wisdom have been shortened to 140 characters or less and thrown into the rushing stream of status update consciousness. Yes, this knowledge is out there, shared, and searchable, but how...
Read MoreIt depends…
Funny how many questions have answer that start with those two words. This tends to be exceptionally true of the coporatization of social media. What if I call my boss a jerk on Twitter? It depends… What if we find bloggers defacing our product images? It depends… What if my company finds me posting on Facebook when I’m home sick? It depends… How do we monitor the blogosphere for our multiple brands? It depends… The complexities of the requirements for big business and their employees is not as clear cut as it is for small, aggressive start-ups. In the...
