Like Jon Swanson, I’m not really big on memes, but since the 5-Things meme is a long standing blogging tradition, who am I to refuse? So in his 25 Things post, Jon tagged me with “Five Happiness Reasonsâ€, I’ll bite and hand off to another couple bloggers.
Here are my items for the “5 Things†meme: Reasons to be Happy:
- The change of seasons
- Our ability to overcome challenges
- Your family & friends
- Being part of the community
- Doing something for someone
So now I’ve got to tag another 5 bloggers eh? Well, I’ll tag Mykl Roventine, Todd Jordan, Josh Kahn, Mike Keliher, Garrick Van Buren. What’s the five things? Since it’s that Thanksgiving time of year – how about 5 things in social media to be thankful for? Participate if you like guys.

Thanks for tagging me. It gives me a good idea for the blog post tonight.
Being part of a community is a big one to be thankful for. Cool.

I like the sense of feeling “connected” to the rest of the world on the social media sites. It’s awesome that we are no longer confined by our geographical boundaries when it comes to meeting new people and making new friends.

I think it’s that sense of community that drives many of us to investigate social media. It’s building these new communities and connections to individuals that makes it exciting. You’re right about the geographical boundaries – social media allows us to expand our tribe beyond our local area.

Yeah, the “5 Things” meme never seems to die. It just gets reinvented and passed on, and on, and on…

I really like this type of link sharing. Besides giving readers an insight into the blogger’s mind it is also a great way to keep your relationship with other bloggers by tagging them.

That’s exactly what they’re good for. These memes can be fun too as a person develops those relationships.
