Migrated to Firefox 3… finally

Firefox I’ve finally made the switch to Firefox 3 (RC3). While previous betas and release candidates didn’t feel quite finished, this one sure does. From the talk around the ‘net about it, it sounds like this may be the last RC before going gold. Yeah, I still have a number of plug-ins that are not supported yet, but in the week since I switched to RC3 there have been three plug-ins updated for compatibility!

My main plug-ins that I can’t live without are there and the stability, memory management, and feature set have made it worth the change. Kudos to the Mozilla team on the work so far – you’re real close, and I know you’ve got a longer list of things to finish up than I’m aware of.

So yep, to those who give a darn I’ve moved to FF3 and am happy with the upgrade. Good stuff.

  • @ACHoffman, there aren't many plug-ins left that don't support FF3. I wonder what you're using that hasn't been updated, and if there is an alternative. I'm betting there may be.

I also use several FF plug-ins and depend on their features. I haven't run into a FF2 only plug-in for about 6 months. I hope you have a chance to try it out again.
  • Firefox 3 is an evolution but I prefer to use little older version of Firefox because I use many addon which are not yet working on Firefox 3.
  • Ari, FF2 is a great browser. I'll not bash IE as I used it for many, many years but I do believe that FF is the best of breed. FF3 brings a nice evolution of everything that makes FF2 a great browser. Cheers on joining the FF crowd!

  • Thanks for the good words of encouragement. I still consider myself a Firefox newbie (I have 2.0) as for years I was an IE junkie but due to delayed browser startup times and browser crashes, I gave up and went Mozilla earlier this year.
